Mountain Warriors was originally set up in September 2000 to provide an accessible, affordable, inclusive martial arts school serving the South East Surrey area. Since then we have expanded and now provide classes in a number of areas around the UK. Originally we were running classes since the early 1990’s as part of a larger organisation called KYR (Kiai Yamabushi Ryu).
We offer expert tuition and support for all students no matter their ages; from absolute beginner to black belt and beyond.
We are a group of dedicated instructors with a love of our arts and their history, as well as an eye on future development of those arts through research. The school is headed by senior instructors who each have a minimum of 30 years’ martial arts experience. All our instructors have trained to a high level in several different martial arts, which gives us a rare depth and breadth of knowledge and experience between us. We are passionate about the physical and mental benefits of martial arts training, for both children and adults.
For those who already hold a senior grade or instructors in other arts we offer free study groups and closed classes in advanced levels of martial arts, teaching skills in over 100 specialist areas. The aim here is to explore the arts and gain a deeper knowledge than may be otherwise found elsewhere or only taught at the highest levels.
Above all, we enjoy nothing more than sharing our knowledge; and helping our students improve, and achieve their goals and ambitions.
The disciplines we offer are:
- Karate – Kobudo, Shotokan and Goju Ryu
- Chinese martial arts – Tai Chi, and Qigong
- Jiu Jutsu – both traditional and modern including traditional Japanese weaponry
- Hei Jutsu – The arts of warfare
- Aiki Jutsu and Aikido
- Kick Boxing
- Modern self defence, including restraint and armed/unarmed security techniques
- Healing – Physiotherapy, sports massage and First aid.
If the discipline you are interested in does not appear on our training schedule, please feel free to contact us, as we are constantly reviewing our programme to meet students’ needs and areas of interest.
