Mountain Warriors was originally set up in September 2000 to provide an accessible, affordable and inclusive martial arts school, serving the South East Surrey area.  Originally we were running classes since the early 1990’s as part of a larger organisation called KYR (Kiai Yamabushi Ryu).

We offer expert tuition and support for all students no matter their ages and ability from absolute beginner to black belt and beyond.  We also cater for those suffering with stress and anxiety problems as well as learning difficulties such as Autism and have helped a number of people who have been through traumatic life events such as bullying, domestic violence and assault, here we have helped rebuild their confidence and self esteem.

We are a group of dedicated instructors with a love of our arts and their history, as well as an eye on future development of those arts through research.  The school is headed by senior instructor who has over 40 years’ martial arts experience. All our instructors have trained to a high level in several different martial arts, which gives us a rare depth and breadth of knowledge and experience between us.  We are passionate about the physical and mental benefits of martial arts training, for both children and adults.

For those who already hold a senior grade or instructors in other arts we offer free study groups and closed classes in advanced levels of martial arts, teaching skills in over 100 specialist areas. The aim here is to explore the arts and gain a deeper knowledge than may be otherwise found elsewhere or only taught at the highest levels.

Above all, we enjoy nothing more than sharing our knowledge; and helping our students improve, and achieve their goals and ambitions.

The disciplines we offer include:

  • Aiki Jujutsu
  • Hei Jutsu – These are 108 arts of warfare
  • Jiu Jutsu – Traditional and modern including Japanese weaponry
  • Judo – Kosen Judo, this is the art that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is based upon
  • Karate – Kobudo (Okinawan weapons), Shotokan and Goju Ryu
  • Kickboxing
  • Meditation and Mindfulness
  • Ninjutsu
  • Tai Chi and Qigong
  • Modern self defence, including restraint and armed/unarmed security techniques
  • Shooting
  • Healing – Physiotherapy, sports massage and First aid

If the discipline you are interested in does not appear on our training schedule, please feel free to contact us, as we are constantly reviewing our programme to meet students’ needs and areas of interest.
